- Press Release -We are happy to be a sponsor for the 15th Annual Quiet Water Symposium. The event will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Michigan State University Pavilion in E. Lansing, MI. This will be our second year as a sponsor and the third year Mackinaw Watercraft has participated at this important event. I am also proud to say that in part due to our volunteer efforts and sponsorship the Quiet Water Symposium has become the largest one day event of its kind in the nation. The Quiet Water Symposium celebrates non-motorized outdoor recreation and a shared concern for our Great Lakes environment. This year’s program will include seminars on outdoor activities such as canoeing, camping, hiking and general outdoor skills. Along with these seminars will be interactive displays manned by knowledgeable enthusiasts and experts on topics such as wooden boat building, camp cooking, cycling, kayaking and protecting our watersheds and environment. In addition to displays many vendors will be available to help you chose the right gear or classes with which to get the proper start. High fuel prices and ecological concerns have increased the interest in non-powered outdoor sports. This has spurred the sales of canoes, kayaks, and sailing vessels as well as bicycles and other human powered conveyances. The 2010 Quiet Water Symposium will continue to focus on these areas as it has done since 1996. For more information on the Quiet Water Symposium visit www.quietwatersymposium.org In addition to our sponsorship of this event Mackinaw Watercraft owner Allen Deming will be presenting a strip-built boat building demonstration all day long in the Mackinaw Watercraft booth. I will be happy to answer question on all phases of the boatbuilding process. I hope to see you there.
